Solar Credits explained:
There are no rebates for solar power systems at the present. The Solar Credit Scheme or RECs (Renewable Energy Certificates) is the current incentive. The price of RECs varies over time and fluctuates in relation to the number of RECs available on the market - just like shares.
In August 09 you could receive $7,500 RECs for a 1.5kW system; the same system would only generate $4,530 in January 10. Read more here
Feed-in Tariff
Feed-in tariffs is the amount you are paid for the electrify you generate and do not consume. This mechanism allows owners of grid- connect photovoltaic solar power systems to be paid more than the retail price for any excess electricity production that is fed back into the grid. The Feed-in Tariff system is scheduled to be introduced in WA in July 2010.
Synergy Renewable Energy Buyback Scheme
Synergy will buy the power you generate at different tariffs, depending on the electricity tariff you opt for. Even on a normal tariff you will receive 0.16 cents per unit.
Synergy SMART tariff
If you are ready to reduce your electricity consumption during specific time brackets (changing over the year) the SMART electricity tariff is for you. It will help you to reduce your electricity bill, as long as you keep an eye on the pick-tariff and the shoulder-tariff.
